Franco’s List/LA LLISTA DE FRANCO

Franco’s List

Himmler visited Montserrat in Hitler’s quest for the Holy Grail (Wagner had placed it there) and then fainted at a bullfight given in his honour by Franco because of the bloody cruelty. Below: Franco’s list was attached to the Final Solution, but Hitler lost the war before he had got that far.

Franco succesfully spun the tale that he had contributed to saving thousands of Jews from extermination by the Nazis. A bloody lie. Franco ordered in 1941 provincial governors to draw up a list of all Jews living in Spain which was handed over to Himmler. The Nazis incorporated this list in their plans for the Final Solution. Franco tried to erase his collaboration with the Holocaust, but Jacobo Israel Garzon has discovered in Saragossa the existence of Franco’s anti-Semitic order, which survived by chance or incompetence (Search Franco Expelled Jews).

On the 13th May 1941 all provincial governors received the order to report “the Spanish and foreign Israelites living in this province.” Signed by Jose Finat Escriva de Romani, Count of Mayalde. A few days later he was named Spanish ambassador to Berlin. He was the man who organised the extradition to Spain of Catalan President Companys to be shot. Finat had become a friend of Himmler when he visited Spain and personally handed to him Franco’s list of Jews. The objective of the Judaic Archive was: “The persons subject to this measure which I order are those of Spanish origin known by the name of Sephardies, because their assimilation to the environment and similarity with our temperament means that they have more guarantees of being able to hide their origin and even live undected, limiting the capacity to prevent the extent and ease of their schemes of disturbances.” It was easier to track them in Barcelona, the Balearic Islands and Morocco where there were “communities, synagogues and special schools.” It was essential to protect the regime from these persons classified as “dangerous.” Noteworthy is that the order breaks with classic Spanish anti-Semitism: A Jew is no longer one when he converts to Catholicism. The Nazis considered Jews a race whatever their religion. The date of the order was no coincidence. Franco was then pondering whether to join the war on Germany’s side. The Wannsee meeting that decided on the Final Solution noted simply that Spain had 6,000 Sephardies listed by Franco. At the end of 1945, all archives were purged so that no trace should remain of anything proving Francos’s collaboration. His cynicism went to the lengths of demanding compensation for the damages caused by the Nazis to the Sephardies of Thessalonika.

A Barcelona, Balears i Marroc, on hi ha “comunidades, sinagogas y colegios especiales” és més fàcil localitzar-los.
