Dancing on Auschwitz/BALLANT SOBRE AUSCHWITZ

Dancing on Auschwitz

European Nazis dance dressed up as Austrian peasants. Below: Gauleiter Strache with his dinner-jacketed goon arrives for the Auschwitz waltz.

The Korporierten-Fest, part of Vienna’s traditional season, is the waltz ball of the European Nazis. More than 250 balls are held across the city, where streams of debutants parade in white dresses. The most high profile is the Opera Ball. UNESCO has dropped the entire Viennese ball season because the Nazi ball failed to live up to tolerance and respect for other cultures. Hosted by Heinz-Christian Strache of the FPÖ, Marine Le Pen was the honoured guest. Her father, National Front founder Jean Marie Le Pen on the Nazi ball: “It reminds me of 19th century Vienna –it’s Strauss without the Kahn.” The Nazi ball was held on Holocaust Remembrance Day, when Auschwitz was liberated.

Gauleiter Strache told the 3.000 European Nazis: “Our wonderful cultural party has been ruined by anti-democratic perpetrators of violence. The violence outside was like the Kristallnacht (the 1938 Nazi pogrom aginst Jews that foreshadowed the Holocaust). We are the new Jews! Organisations behind the ball end up getting a Jewish Star pinned on them.” Adding insult to injury, the Nazi ball just happened to fall on Holocaust Remembrance Day –the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp. Eva Glawischnig of the Green Party: “Those who attended were dancing on the graves of Auschwitz.” Austria’s ruling VPÖ Party described Strache’s tirade as a “slap in the face for all victims of the Nazis’ criminal regime”. One Austrian Jewish leader said the spectacle made him “want to throw up”.
