Ruinous Radial High Speed

Appropiately drawn in red ink, the radial high speed lines from Madrid all lose money, a monument to centralist stupidity (paid by others). Below: The town time forgot: Villena, one of three stops from Madrid to Alacant. The rest is La Mancha or desert in Arabic.

The Madrid newspaper El Pais criticises the absurdity of the radial high speed map with no economic justification. While Catalonia cut back health and education, the centralist State inaugurated a new high speed line to Alacant. Renfe is bankrupt but survives on subsidies from Catalan taxes. The entire Mediterranean, not just Catalonia, receives a disgraceful service without the budgeted investments while Madrid competes with China:

 

“The same train that opened the first high speed line between Madrid and Seville 21 years ago has now come to Alacant, which has become stop number 31 of the high speed network after the opening the 165 km Albacete-Alacant branch with an investment of €1.9 million. L’AVE radial ruinós

Un poble oblidat en el temps: Villena, una de les tres parades de Madrid a Alacant. La resta és La Mancha o desert en aràbic. El diari madrileny El Pais critica l’absurditat de l’Ave radial que no té justificació econòmica. Mentre Catalunya retalla sanitat i educació, l’Estat centralista inaugura un nou Ave a Alacant. Renfe està arruinada però sobreviu subvencionada pels impostos catalans. Tot el Mediterrani, i no tan sols Catalunya, rep un servei infame sense les inversions pressupostades mentre els madrilenys competeixen amb Xina:

 

“El mismo tren que inauguró el primer trayecto del Ave entre Madrid y Sevilla hace 21 años ha llegado ahora a Alacant, que se ha convertido en la estación número 31 de la red de alta velocidad con la inauguración del tramo Albacete-Alacant de 165 kms y una inversión de €1,9 millones. Ha convertido a España en el país europeo con más kilómetros de Ave —3.100 kms— y el segundo después de China, con una extensión 20 veces mayor. En momentos de ajuste durísimo en sanidad y educación, algunos parámetros con los que se proyectó la red de alta velocidad han quedado claramente desfasados. Resulta lamentable que algunas autoridades hayan incurrido de nuevo en proyecciones desmesuradas sobre el número de pasajeros. Lo ocurrido con el tramo Madrid-Valencia aconseja realismo: los 3,6 millones de pasajeros previstos se quedaron en 1,9 el primer año y en 1,7 millones el segundo. Haber destinado €11,5 millones a construir una estación en Villena (35.000 habitantes) hace temer el error de estaciones como las de Tardienta o Lucena, que implican importantes inversiones y en las que apenas se apean unas decenas de pasajeros al día.”
